July 4th Events
The planning is underway for the annual July 4th Parade. This year’s parade will be on Wednesday, July 4th in the Deerpath Subdivision. Our committee of volunteers are currently looking at the entertainment.
If you are interested in volunteering for the Parade Committee. We are looking for responsible individuals interested in serving on the Parade Committee, as well as volunteers that will be available on July 4th to assist with the setup and monitoring of the parade. The celebrations get under way at 8:00 am at the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Blvd, when youngsters ages 4-12 adorn their bikes, scooters and wagons with banners, flags and other creative ideas for the Bike Decorating Contest. The first & second place winners will receive a certificate for a day at the Vernon Hills Park District Aquatic Center. All participants entering the contest will receive a ribbon . Contestants are invited to ride in the parade as long as accompanied by an adult.
The parade steps off at 9:00 A.M. at the corner of Deerpath and Atrium Drive, just south of Highway 60 (Town Line Road). Marching units will follow a parade route south to Sullivan Drive and then west to Aspen. Demonstration areas will be marked along the route for your viewing pleasure. We would ask that everyone respect the wishes of those who do not want to participate in squirt gun activities.
Join us at Century Park for from 6:30 to 9:30 PM for live entertainment sponsored by the Vernon Hills Park District At approximately 9:30 PM Honorable Mayor Roger Byrne will set the skies over Big Bear and Little Bear Lake ablaze with color as Melrose Pyrotechnics, Inc presents a dazzling aerial display of fireworks.
